C. Dean McGrath Jr.
C. Dean McGrath Jr. is Outside Counsel to the White House Writers Group. He also is an Attorney-at-Law and founder of the Washington D.C. firm McGrath & Associates where he represents clients before Congress, Federal and State courts and Federal administrative agencies in connection with legislative, regulatory, and litigation matters. Mr. McGrath is Of Counsel to the Nebraska law firm Gross Welch, P.C., L.L.O.
Mr. McGrath previously served as a partner with the law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, L.L.P. and as a Senior Attorney with the trade association for the domestic automobile industry.
Mr. McGrath had a long career in public service: Deputy Chief of Staff to the Vice President; Chief of Staff and Chief Counsel to Representative Christopher Cox (CA); Staff Director, U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on U.S. National Security and Military/Commercial Concerns with the People’s Republic of China; Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Staff Secretary; General Counsel for the Peace Corps; and Acting General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Associate General Counsel for the Department of Transportation. Mr. McGrath was also Special Counsel, Office of the Secretary of Defense; Associate Counsel to the President; an Attorney Advisor, Department of the Treasury; and a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
Mr. McGrath holds a B.A. with Distinction in Economics from Duke University, a J.D. from the University of Nebraska, and a Diploma from National War College, National Defense University. He is married, has three grown children and resides in Alexandria, Virginia.
